Mogherini, Vučić discuss ‘new phase of the Dialogue’

Federica Mogherini, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, met with Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić in Brussels today to discuss Serbia’s European Union integration path and the Dialogue with Kosovo for normalisation of relations.

The European Union has significantly revitalised its engagement with the region, as confirmed by the European Council in March and the State of the Union speech by President Juncker in September. The High Representative and the President agreed on the importance of Serbia’s commitment to EU reform process in this context. They also discussed the new phase of the Dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina on comprehensive normalisation of relations, which the High Representative facilitates on the EU’s behalf. They reiterated their agreement on the need to advance the Dialogue for the sake of regional transformation for both sides, Serbia and Kosovo, to be able to make progress on their respective EU paths.

The High Representative and the President also discussed the situation in the Western Balkans region and the need for true reconciliation and cooperation to the benefit of all.
